Parvati Darshan

Parvati Darshan is a good option for short trip within Pune. You can spend a evening at nearby Sarasbaug and then visit the temple. The sunset from  the temple terrace will be great. We have already visited Sarasbaug so we directly when to Parvati temple.

Parvati temple is near to Swargate. The temple is on top of a short hill, there is a path of steps to reach the temple. The steps are large and made slant inline will the slope of the hill, not a place for high heels. The temple area is maintained very well with good greenery. One can find trees with there scientific names and local name.

Devdeveshwar & Parvati temple

Main temple of Devdeveshwar and Parvati
I was sweating by the time i reached the temple, I shall vouch
that visiting this temple will improve your health... :). The main deity in the temple is Shiva, you can find the black Shivalinga and the idol of Parvati behind. There is a board which describes the existence of the temple. We paid the nominal charge of  `5/person and went to the temple terrace. One can get a good view of Pune from the terrace. The area of Saras Baug is entirely covered with greenery and appeared beautiful. There were few people who were waiting for sunset. We went, had a view and returned(not a good fan of sunset view).
I will need a translator for this..

A good detail about the history of the temple is given in detail here.

 Vishnu Narayan temple

Paintings depicting the Dasavataras

The idol of Vishnu in the temple here is very beautiful and serene, it is made of black stone. On the boundary walls of the temple you can find the painting of the Dasavaratas of  Vishnu. The boundary wall on the rear end reminds us the age of the temple and the vacant spaces on the wall can be utilized for other paintings regarding  Lord Vishnu.

Kartika Swami temple

all empty..
This temple is very spacious and calm as the visors were very less. The architecture of the temples is more or less same. I thought of looking around the temple but avoided as i found two student seriously studying in the area behind the temple..they have selected a good spot.

Shri Vittal temple

This temple is just beside the Parvati temple boundary and is the most recent of all the temples. This temple of Lord Krishna and Rukmini.

There is also Peshwa museum, a palace constructed by Peshwas used as a museum. You can find variety of swords displayed there along with some paintings.

Many people visit the temple as their daily routine. We found many people doing there evening walk. There is also a small stall selling snacks. Good place to spend an evening in Pune.
