Bhigwan...tyrst with the birdies

history was replaced by ornithology...
we planned to visit Ajanta and Ellora last weekend but it didn't work, but we headed for Bhigwan.

We started at 6:00 am in the morning..I felt a bit cold but waved it off thinking that within half an hour through the journey i would be fine. But i was wrong..i was shivering till i reached Bhigwan...i had a tough fight with the weather to have some photographs..Even at 7:45am in the end Feb one could see mist hovering over the ground.

Bhigwan is on Pune-Solapur highway. It is an easy route, no diversions till Bhigwan village. After crossing the village take a left turn(if u r coming from Pune) go straight may be for 3 or 4 kms..then you will find the two roads, first on left and then on right. Take the right road. After a km or 2 u will find kutcha road leading to the lake.
I saw only few birds and was disappointed. we went a bit late..good time to visit is in Dec and Jan..we went to bid farewell to the remaining birds ;-). We were not sure
whether to explore on foot or take a boat ride..the boat ride only for two of us is costly. I found that there was another family who were in the same state..so we decided to join them and opt for boat.. the boat-woman was well versed in the knowledge of birds..but since i can't understand marati..i figured out only few things..:-(.
She steered our boat towards a group of flamingos, the flamingos are surrounded by seagulls and various other water birds(i am poor at remembering names..)..i used my camera to watch the birds closely...all of a sudden the flock spread their wings and flew...the sight was amazing...pink long legs and colorful wings across the blue sky...
then we enjoyed the ride for awhile and took snap of other birds that kept posing for us..:)..
Taking pictures of birds was not easy that too from a  moving boat... i focused on a stork and clicked and what..the picture contained no bird..it flew away and at the same time our boat tilted a bit..:(..then i found a new trick...i kept tracking a bird and was sure that it would fly, so i was waiting just to have a snap of it...i succeeded..
We stayed for an hour and returned back.. on way back you can see small stalls selling grapes..
On reaching Khadiki i remembered that there must be a dam around..when enquired we found that it is 40kms further, to be visited later.... near to Loni you can find lot of plant nursery's..the cost of plant is very less when compared to that in Pune..i bought one in memory of the visit...
On way back we planned to go to Ramdhara (near Loni), but it was noon so we skipped it off and reached home.
One can plan for an entire day trip to Bhigwan then to khadiki dam and on return to Ramdhara temple..
